Motorex 10w-50

I have a Ktm950 that calls for Motorex 10w-50 or an oil meeting JASO MA in the proper viscosity range. I need to find an alternative that is easier to obtain locally. I have found a source for the Motorex stuff but the price is $12/Qt.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to the Motorex? The KTM is a wet clutch bike V-twin made in Austria (Germany).

Since your in Texas, I would think that any synthetic motorcycle oil in either 15W-50 or even 20W-50 would suffice just fine.

I used Mobil 1 15W50 in my Honda with a wet clutch. Worked great and shifted more smooth without slip.

Amsoil 20w50 should work fine in the Dallas area.

If you are farther north riding in the cooler/winter months 10w40.

Amsoil should be easy enough to find their is a wharehouse in Arlintgon.

You can find Motorex online at www.motodepot.com for a better price than $12/qt. Other MC oils also available there.

How does AMSOIL 20w-50 stack up against Mobil 1 20w-50 V-twin? The Mobil 1 is available locally.

The 20w50 Vtwin compares pretty close to the Mobil 1, though in the 4ball wear test the Amsoil shows a pretty good advantage.

Secondly the Amsoil AMV is less expensive in most cases. I've seen the Mobil 1 V-twin for $7.99/quart. Even at the retail price with shipping the AMV is $7.29/qt(thats on a case)
