motorcraft oil gone? what to replace?

I was under the understanding that Phillips 66 Trop Artic, Kendell, and Motorcraft synthetic blend oils were comparable and manufactured by Phillips 66.

I used 5W-20, Trop Artic and Motorcraft synthetic blend regularly for a decade without any problems changing in April and November. All of these oils are getting hard to find at the heavily discounted price I was able to stock up, always under $2 a quart. I have a few oil changes left. I thought that I might switch to Pennzoil synthetic blend but I think it is also hard to find especially at a discount.

Now I am thinking of switching to Mobil synthetic. It is always available at Walmart or Costco at a decent price for a full synthetic and seems to work well for my application.

OP if you must have MC there are numerous places to find it as mentioned above.

Amsoil has always been available at the warehouse, or delivered to my door, without a delay. Just sayin'....

WM IMO is starting to not care about keeping the shelves stocked; the last several times I went there looking at oil they did not have what I was looking for. With all the recent stories about WM FAIL for oil I shake my head. Too bad they have the lowest oil prices on a regular basis.

If you're a hard core purist, swing by your nearest Ford dealer and grab a case of Motorcraft oil and an oem filter. Or hit Walmart and grab some PP and an oem filter.

Trop Artic or Shield Choice, it is almost identical to motorcraft. Phillips 66 did a rebranding of their oils. That being said, hard to beat magnatec for about the same price as motorcraft.

Motorcraft is not being phased out, however, they did switch packaging and most retailers are clearing out old stock for new.

Are you sure about this? I've never seen anything linking the two companies that would indicate one is a subsidiary of the other or that they were both part of a larger conglomerate. Chevron is Chevron and ConocoPhillips is just Conoco. That's always been my understanding.

I've never heard of this. There is a ChevronPhillips chemical venture but I don't think that has anything to do with finished lubes. Can you provide some resources for your statements bullwinkle? I'm very curious.

WalMart is pretty smart when it comes to regional stocking. Certain areas will favor one brand over another. As a theoretical example, if Valvoline is the hot seller in Texas then the shelves get more Valvoline while Arizona may see more of another brand.

If you don't like the Motorcraft oil change special at Advance Auto, if your Walmart carries the new Phillips 66 Shield Choice, it's virtually the same formula as Motorcraft.

Don't you have a Rural King in your area? Oil deals are to be had there, as their store brand is bottled by Citgo, which is a good product sold much cheaper than others.
