Motorcraft FL-910S cut open - Kohler 25hp engine

This is a Motorcraft FL-910s filter from the 25 hp Kohler V-Twin on my John Deere rider. The filter was in use for 1 year, and about 100 hours. The only odd thing I noticed was that the ADBV seemed a bit stiff for being silicone, but otherwise the filter was in excellent condition.

Looking good. Was it stuff due to being outside with unseasonably cool temperatures?

Filter looks excellent, you can double the service interval to 200 hours without problem.

That one looks good. Must be old stock before Purolator started having problems.

The FL910s has never had an issues.

Thanks for posting. I have been using this filter on my Briggs & Stratton powered lawn tractor but never cut one open. They are 1/3 the price of the Briggs and Kohler branded filters. I also do annual oil, oil filter and air filter changes.

Not quite sure why it was stiff. This tractor does get used year round. I mow with it during mowing season, it has a bagger for picking up leaves, and a snow blower attachment that I use during winter. We had a lot of snow this winter and I did both my driveway and a few neighbors, so it got quite a bit of use this year. The machine has about 600 hours on it, and I changed the oil after using it for a few hours so the oil was nice and hot.

The filter was replaced with a Wix 51348, so we will see how that one compares.

Looks great! Kinda surprised on the ADBV stiffness though, the Motorcraft "S" series ADBV's are the softest of those I've cut so far, usually very pliable. I wonder if the high heat did it?

It might've been the heat. This engine does have an oil cooler on it, but I'm not sure what the oil temps would be. I've been meaning to put a gauge on it, but haven't gotten around to it. I wouldn't think that the temp would be too much higher than a car. Maybe I just got a fluke, either way it looked good and I didn't have any abnormal noise with this filter, I will probably go back to it after I'm done with the Wix that is on there now.

Looks much better made then a K&N Oil filter that costs probably 3x as much.

Motorcraft has a great oil filter and at a great price....

I have not heard of any Motorcraft Filter with problems related to the Puro media tear.
