My question is if the new MC 5-30 is the same type of mixture, only in a slightly higher weight.

Ford released a new 5-30 spec that is the same as the 5-20 spec, only the weight is different. The 5-30 must pass the same tests as the 5-20.

The new MC 5-30 meets this spec.

The new MC bottles have slightly smaller lettering on the word Motorcraft and a slightly smaller font. Notice this writing only on the 5w20 and 5w30, you wont find it on the non-synthetic bottles or on the higher weights.

Legally theres no specific definition of what a semi really is. Is it 1% or 90%. If they want to say their Motorcraft oil is a semi then Mobil Drive Clean-mineral based- products would also be as well, by their definition. XOM just doesnt dummy down the products like others.
