Went to Walmart and was floored by motor oil prices. Super Tech is $27 a 5 quart jug! Holy moly! Last time I shopped for oil there, the same oil was $17 or $18! I have been using 5 gallon buckets of Delvac recently so I haven't had to shop for oil locally for a while! Guess I need to get out more!

S0-a filter is another 6 bucks-so $33.00 for an oil change with the Valvoline Instant Oil change places charging at least $20.00 or $30.00 more than that. What's the issue?

I buy all my oil from Wally online and try to stay a change ahead on supplies. Really impressed on what the Pennzoil Ultra Platium 5w20 has done for my 2AZ-FE Scion. That weight of PUP is now out of stock. Unless I tweek my VPN to Cal., then I can order it. Price has gone from under $26 to $44, depending on weight, for a 5 qt. Single quarts of 5W20 are currently $21.55! The non-Ultra PP is still around $25 for a 5 qt.

I think they must do some strange store location pricing. The SuperTech Full Synthetic online is currently $20.38 for a 5qt., except 10w30 which is $21.37.

That's why people build a stash for situations like that. It's still cheaper than paying three times that for a jiffy lube oill change.

Try a different Walmart. Walmart will vary prices from one store to another to get their profits. At the Walmart closest to me, Super Tech is $24/jug. At the one about 30 minutes the other way, it's $17/jug. However, Super Tech oil filters are cheaper at the one closest to me. Prices confirmed about 2 months ago.

They do the same for a lot of other products as well. My daughter's diapers are $4/box cheaper at the one further away compared to the one closer while wipes are cheaper at the one closer.

Everything is up. Apparently we are in a rough stretch of economic times. Coffee,Beer, Fuel ⛽ and everything else is gonna cost more.

I have been living under a rock for the past few years and I limit my connection to the outside world by only accessing the internet to read what is on BITOG. I would have no idea that motor oil prices had increased if not for this thread.

ST is $27 here too while name brand is $22-26.

It was never really a good deal anyways as it always seemed priced above Quaker State Ultimate Durability.

To cover a few future oil changes is a stash. Losing a garage or a whole room or two is a hoarding disorder.
Well..you could store several 5 quart jugs and have 100's of quarts and they don't take up as much room as you project. By my informal guessing I am willing to say that it's far less than 5% on BITOG that HOARD. With that being said there are a few nonsensical stashes that were evidenced by photographs taken by the hoarders themselves that pop up on here every so often.
