Motor oil advice , ACEA C2/C3 confusion.

Now i need to replace oil on my corolla d4-d again :)
Mannol 0w-30 is sold out :( .
My option is to buy Pemco 332 0w-30 (ACEA C2 or C3) PAO+Esters .. also SCT brand.
Same stuff as the Mannol legend extra 0w-30 ?
Of course both engine oils have no approvals.

I can also buy for dirt cheap Fanfaro (SCT brand) FF6719 with VOLKSWAGEN 504 00/507 00 Approval
But it´s 5w-30

What would you do ?

Yes i ´m kinda weird, budget is not a problem. Need to prove a point using cheap engine oils from one particular local seller.
Disel fuel filter, air intake filter, and oil filter = Bosch.

For the heck of it i asked the local toyota dealership about this, and was informed they used 5w30/c3 for this model if serviced by them.

Anyways ,my professional field is electronics engineering but all this acea thing and voodoo marketing surrounding engine oil is way above my level.

That's the smart thing on a diesel, which puts soot in the oil. You want to avoid getting MOFT less than the soot particle diameter. Higher HTHS viscosity helps with that.

Partly because the Mannol product has no actual approvals and only a list of recommendations. From their TDS I'm not even sure if the ACEA Sequence is legitimate.

You said earlier that "budget is not a problem"?
Correct.
I'm hellbent on shopping only with one store here in reykavik.
Other stores are selling for example 0w30 liquimoly for little short of 200$ ! So they can
fu** off!

Prices for castol ,helix etc. Have skyrocket and are also unreasonable. (>140$)

I can buy mannol and pemco for around 35$

What do you think of...
FF6719 with VOLKSWAGEN 504 00/507 00 Approval (36$)

?

Manol Oils are famous to be the cheapest and I don’t know someone to use it.
Try with C2/C3 oils shell, mobil and I think total oils are nice alternative. Remember Toyota Diesel engines are not famous for reliability, like petrol . So, I would buy the top oils C2/C3 from shell and Mobil. I don’t know if have Dpf in French Fap filer , it’s the case short tripping easily clogged them, and Toyota sells dpf filter for 1500 euros or Usd. So in weekends is a nice idea to go to drive it like stollen (highway).

Thanks for the reply.
Yes , i have been monitoring the DPF euro6 type with OBD logger.
Its impossible to burn soot of this DPF unless the 300-400 mile interval active regen is running or without some DPF additives.
The dpf never reaches 500°C / 930°F. It´s only 1.4ltr turbocharged family car. Even driving up mountain side.
So its far from reaching the "burn off temp". :(

If i compare the diffrential pressure over the dpf after active regen, it has not really changed over the past year.
I´m no specialist in this but i compare dfp pressure logs running idle, and @2000rpm 50% engine load etc. So it´s not stressing me out.

The car has not burnt "any" oil since i bought it. and it has around 12k mile on Mannol 0w30. Changed every 6k mile.
Yes it has actual VW approval and is ACEA C3. To me a bit more legitimate.

Any point buying 200$ oil then ?
I have seen you discussing with others if mannol claim of PAO+Ester holds true.
With all those people using this oil in UK and DE , would SCT manage to sell poor performing oil for so long (few years) ?

probably you did not read my entire post, I don’t think total oil is 200 usd. Why 0w30 ?
I know friends of mine are using Mobil 5w30 esp for diesel cars. But again see the prices of motul, Fuchs , shell, total, valvoline C2/C3 or just C3 other well known brands there plenty of them.

Sorry but you have a mistake , as you posted , 0w30 viscosity is “preferred “ and below the manual is stated 5w30.
So, I suppose you to read again members opinion concerning Acea c2 and c3 and the think again their proposals for the right oil for your corolla. Believe me they have the expertise.
I made for you check with danish valvoline oil chooser(climat is more harsh then in area of Island:
As you can see you have plenty of choices including 5w30 c3.
In few words made your choice- 0w30 fanfaro or mannol legends(pao, esters,an etc.) or well known brands 5w30 c2/c3 Or c3 at the same price.
Up to you.

I like to shop with the little guys (shops) so i found this oil.

Mannol drained after 4350miles/7000kms
No swarf in oil filter or drain plug as usual. No gunks.

Wolf officaltech 0w-30 (C2) poured in. With multifactor oil serum ?:alien:

No changes to engine sounds or anything.

Looks legit engine oil. Saw this on the german forums Fanfaro FF6719 5w30 (C3)

Helix Ultra 0w30 ECT
C2/C3 with MB229.52 & VW 504/507 approvals

Impressive 200+ viscosity index.
Any oil with an “impressive” 200+ Viscosity Index is absolutely loaded with Viscosity Index Improvers, and sure to shear some in use. While not saying there’s no good use for an oil like that, be careful in that you don’t want to choose an oil with a very high VI and virgin viscosity at the bottom of the given oil grade, especially if you have an engine known to dilute the oil with fuel. You’ll be out of grade in very short order. The German engines are generally not known diluters and that’s likely how they are able to achieve those certs.

Me, I’ll take the No VII stuff that’s essentially unshearable and exceeds 504.00, and rest easy knowing it’s not going to lose a grade due to destroyed polymer viscosity improvers.
