others Michael Schenker , always overlooked . YARDBIRDS ( Jeff Beck , Clapton , Page ) . Definitely HENDRIX , many followers such as ROBIN TROWER , S.R.V. , Frank Marino , Pat Travers , etc..
Muddy Waters
Buddy Holly
Stevie Ray Vaughan (a guitar deity...RIP)
Duane Allman (died way too young, and was absolutely amazing)
Dimebag Darryl (metal to the max...unmatched)
Buddy Guy- he still gets it done
Frank Zappa (highly underrated as a guitarist, but listen to his music and you can here some things that EVH still uses)
The sad thing about my list is the only guy that's still kicking is Buddy Guy and he's in his 70's!
Steve Winwood plays a mean guitar , multi talented for sure . Former band member of TRAFFIC DAVE MASON not to shabby . How about ROY BUCHANAN ? Lonnie Mack ? Any familiar with these artists ?
Steve Winwood is outstanding...I loved traffic and blind faith. Roy Buchanan is quite good. Have you guys heard Eric Gales or Derrick Trucks yet? WOW they are slightly talented.
Randy Rhodes was another short-lived contributor.........
Agreed with the early Metallica stuff...... Burton changed the perception that the bass guitar was simply a background instrument. Anasthesia/Pulling-Teeth. I've had people tell me that there's no way that's a bass

speaking of short lived , TOMMY BOLIN . Dont' forget RITCHIE BLACKMORE or JOE WALSH .
FYI- you guys should check out Rose Hill Drive. They are a little new to the seen, but they can JAM for a 3 piece band!! Jacob Sproul is an amazing guitarist...I'm still able to catch them locally around Boulder, but the days of the $15 ticket are numbered. Moon is the New Earth is a great album.
