Mopar to replace the current v-8 with a inline 6 twin turbo? say it aint so...

I had a 1990 BMW 325 4 door inline 6 that was one of the best cars i ever owned .....sold it 155k when trans started to go. I remember driving late one friday night from Tempe to S.D. to a bachlor party on hwy 8 just inside CA I was doing almost 130 where al the sand dunes are passing a CHiP on the side of the road....I though no party for me im going to jail.....but he never moved....that was luck.....little BMW inline 6 was fast......
If you had manual and kept it, you could sell it now for like $50k! 😂

I don’t understand your opposition to turbo. It will have much more torque at lower rpms, better mpg, it will be lighter in front.
I mean, turbo’s are mainstream since mid 90’s in small 4cyl engines and in diesels since mid 80’s.

The 5.7L is the best engine to replace with a turbo inline 6. It isn't that powerful of an engine in the first place, a waste to get a Challenger with one.

I'm 100% for it.

Plus the 5.7L's eat camshafts and get that god awful lifter tick. Glad to say goodbye to that dinosaur.

I know the early models with automatic 5 speed and the God Awful fuel saving device had problems but my friends 2016 has 90k miles ....zero problems....and he lets his grand kid drive it around so you know he is running it wide open every stop light.

Bring back the slant. :D

I'm with you. There are many advantages of having a turbo as far as power and sometimes efficiency… But the additional complexity and reliability issues on some of these platforms are problematical. To be fair, there are lots of turbo engines that run 300,000 miles without an issue; but there are others that blow up after 50 or 60,000 miles.

Hopefully Mopar will see fit to offer a normally aspirated version of their inline 6 as well… That I would buy for sure.

Slant Six....Jeep 4.0....BMWs galore....inline sixes are great engines.
How many cams and lifter problems do the Hemis appear to have?

Scotty Kilmer is a fossil with views from the 70s. Sometimes he's right but usually he's completely wrong and stuck in the past. And he's also a hypocrite. There are far better sources to listen to than him, he's entertainment not educational.

Im a fossil also.... stuck in the 60' s and 70's....dont to worry to much it will happen to you.

Biggest issue is tuning.
Turbos are easy to tune. 400hp out of factory? Why not 700hp tuned in Doug’s garage down the street? He has software!
BMW N54 engines with sequential turbos are best example. Inline six, two turbos, everything forged inside, voila 1000hp. Then some “ricer” that grow out of Civic decides to get one with 200k, tunes it to 650hp and then goes on forums and complains how BMW is horrible bcs. his injectors failed or turbo with only 200k failed while providing 120% more power then new.
Then Scotty sees that and goes on his toddler rant on YouTube.

From an aesthetic point of view the Hemi engine cover was a horrific cheese...

My 07 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 now has 220K on it and is very strong and totally stock and has MDS. Has only been to Dodge for the airbag recall since I have owned it. Pulls my 5th wheel and hauls the family with no problems. The one thing I really like about Dodge is they leave a motor alone and don't redesign it all the time. I have had a few with slant 6 and 318 and 360 and never had a bad one.
