Moon Roof - lubrication

Hey Guys,

My Moon roof on my Mazda 3 could use some lubrication ...
I have available two products

MP Metal Protector and Synthetic Spray - red color ..

Thx in advance for some good tips !

I would use a low odor lithium grease or other low/no odor product. I made the mistake of lubricating the sun roof track with gun grease one day. Parked out in the sun and the inside of the car smelled like grease for 3 weeks.

No experience with either of your listed products.

I never saw any company advertising that ... But I never looked for it too

This looks good But I bet that Canadian Lowes does not carry it !

What about a silicone dielectric grease? Odor free and no oily runoff.

I think a silicone grease in a spray can would work OK, it's clear and odour free, it will also be eaisy to wipe any overspray. But since it's thinner it probably would have to be applied more often.

My second choice would be Lithium Grease.

I agree with Boomer-- silicone dielectric grease. It doesn't melt and has no odor. FWIW-- Old tommy

I'd be sure to use something with a "good" melt temp, so you don't get run off into your interior headliner. Even in the far north summer temps can be hot enough to make a mess. White grease, as mentioned earlier, carefully applied would be my choice.

Shin-Etsu grease from the dealer is actually pretty good.

Dupont Krytox is the most stable, inert, resistant to water and UV, and long lasting. It is expensive though.

Don't forget grease will collect dust and grit in those channels.
