Earlier today, I dropped by the local auto parts store to take a closer look at the Monroe Sensa-Trac struts for my Saturn.

I noticed that the struts were Made in Mexico!

Was this a recent change, or have Monroe struts always been Made in Mexico? I'm a bit antsy about buying auto parts store made in certain countries after recent experience with Stant thermostats.

Thanks.

In the beginning, Monroe products were made in Monroe.

Over the years I have seen them sourced from other countries depending on the application. For example, about 12 years ago a set of Monroes for a VW were marked "Germany".

Thanks to NAFTA it's become advantageous for auto manufacturers and parts manufacturers to assemble their products in Mexico.

Ford has plant there, VW does, and now apparently Monroe.
