I bought a 300 ml can of Moly Disulfide, made in Canada. Their site says it "...is a collodial suspension of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) in a high grade, multi-viscosity engine oil that contains anti-foam agents and corrosion inhibitors. It is NOT an oil modifier. It uses the engine oil to carry the 0.5 micron particles (that's 0.0005 mm diameter) of MoS2 to critical engine components....plates onto engine surfaces providing a protective barrier that will sustain loads in excess of 200,000 p.s.i....can be used with any mineral oil (traditional motor oil), synthetic oil or synthetic/mineral blends."
Anyone have use, experience, etc with this? Looking for Patman and MoleKule in particular (aren't we all?

I donno, but to me it sounds like a Natural moly hugh?
Were the Microns UP TO 0.5? -Like to see them Max size 0.5-.33 smaller is better but more $$$, but okay, still smaller than a regular filter, BUT do you have a supposed Sub-micron filter. I had one filter one time that said it was like a 1-Mic and in actual it was smaller, just enough to strain out most or at least a lot of the moly :-}

Do they say how many PPM?
Sounds like you may need several bottles if you want to plate everything complete.
IMHO:
In the engine an oil sample of around 80-86-88 ppm
is purely bare Minimum - anything less you might as well not have any, 120-180-200 required for protection, and anything over 200 better and required for both depletion and maintenance.

I've seen this and considered trying it out in the past but then got scared. I emailed them and they say that little bottle of the stuff has 10,000ppm of moly in it! Mind you in concentrated form, so if you put it in your 5 quarts of oil it won't show that high, although I bet it shows higher than 500ppm in the final mixture.

OK, I read the link BTW, and thanks again.
Well, OK, fine, I can return it, but then again I am planning on two oil changes 500 miles apart, as in double Auto-RX treatment.
MoleKule, you said ten milli-litres to a 4 to 5 litre capacity and then do UOA at 1000 miles?
Remember as was pointed out I have a bypass filter, remember also I am not super happy with my current UOA lab, so I may be kinda sending things to the lab that is essentially money spent a tad too easily, know what I mean?
I could do a VOA of some cheap $1 / litre junk (and the 20 year old 20W20, the 10 year old Valvoline, etc) then test with 10 ml after an Auto-RX flush (that would be after Redline so there might be some Moly residue) and then another with the remaining 290 ml. Then go to German Castrol.
I may even get WearCheck kits while I still have all my Toromont kits and take UP TO SIX samples of my current / used Redline. 1) Via dipstick / vacuum pump, sent to WearCheck. 2) Ditto but to Toromont, send 2 samples to look at variation (Toromont is less price than Wearcheck, but then, ya get what ya pay for.)
3) Likewise from the flow at the drain plug.
We'll see what happens with money

You can use something with liquid organic moly, that will not filter out with your by-pass like the natural.

Rob-the-oil-nut,

I've used it on my Saturn and here is used oil analysis (w/ & w/o Moly Sip). I didn't get many feedbacks from people. I thought they weren't much interesed in results

.

I stopped using this after I saw the used oil analysis result. I didn't see any improvement on wear number when compared to regular conventional oil used oil analysis. Also it didn't help infamous Saturn Oil Consumption

At the moment I am using a product called Molybond Formula 2.5 which comes in a 60g (2oz.) tube (pure micronised moly disulphide < 1 micron size etc etc)
I put it in the V8 as a winter supplement, the car is only driven twice a week. I have not done an oil analysis on this car yet, so I will do one with the moly, and one without. Should be intersting.
