Hey guys hopefully you can help me out. I think I was duped by my ford dealership today. For my 60,000 mile service they poured something called MOC engine treatment into the crankcase along with the oil change. I been trying to search on the internet, and this forum, but I cant find any information about it.

Should I do another oil change and get that [censored] out of there? Or will it not hurt the engine? Also it appears the tech put 5w20 instead of 5w30 in my 2006 Ford Ranger. Will this hurt it.

Thanks for your help.

personally i would not add any additives to a crankcase esp. not at that mileage.

manufacturers usually advise against additives. (remember the dealer IS NOT the manufacturer, they only sell the manufacturer's products. )

if i were in your shoes
1. I would ask them why they did it without checking with me as the manfacturer may not recommend it
2. I would ask for my money back (i.e. have them put fresh oil in at their cost)

Thanks for the fast response

The damage is already done with it being in there. It was part of the 60,000 mile package that I signed for. I didn't realise it untill I reached home, stupid mistake!!!!! I just want to know what the stuff is, and if I should do my own oil change and get it out of there.

probably no harm in short term. This is the kind of thing that makes me think twice when using a dealer. luckily, i have had no trouble with mine, but i do always check the vitals before i drive away from my service.

We use it at the dealership I work at too. And I'm still trying to find out what it is.

The mechanics won't add it to newer cars, only the older ones get it. Ford back-speced most engines for 5W-20 as well.
