Greeting!
it is summer, the time we drive insane distances to get away homes to some strange town and eat in the same restaurant we always do and I luv it :-).

My mother had a little slipping on the steps incident and pulled a muscle. She can walk but not for hours. So I am thinking a mobility scooter will help her enjoy the vacation and experience less pain.

which mobility scooter thing should I get? I need one that will fit on hitch carrier.

also, that kind of batteries do these have? I see a lot on craigs with bad batt,

You may consider contacting a local Freedom/Pride mobility representative. Sometimes they have rentals that are available for a small fee and normally are in good shape. Our local Rep. has about 3 that were reconditioned units. Worth a try.

If it's for a vacation go for it, but those scooters cause a downward spiral in people who are capable of healing.

I know someone who got a used "mart cart" to tool around in when she had end stage cancer.

I'm also interested in what they take for batteries, eg if a generic lead acid deep cycle fits.

the heavily advertised ones take a deep cycle marine battery IIRC.
I've also heard that the most mentioned one(s) have quality problems and frequently need attention.

My 2¢

My parents were given a used one by family members. Unless you use it on a regular basis, they are battery killers and aren't worth the hassle in my experience. Storage issues as well.

If this is for a vacation, definitely rent.

looks like renting it the way to go.
I saw at disney parent would rent it for their kids to zip around with the heavy backpacks :-)
Thanks guys!
