This M1-104 filter was on my wife's Odyssey. After 5k miles of normal driving, I drained and filled the TGMO, and then two round trips from Colorado to DC were made in April and May, totaling another 7k miles. So this filter has 12k miles, 7k of which were at a constant 75mph.

The ADBV is soft. I closely inspected the media and couldn't find any issues. The media was impregnated into the ends with a generous amount of brown adhesive, and still in perfect shape.

One thing I found of concern, in the 2nd pic, is the tiny silvery metallic spec in the media. I guess it could have flaked off in the cutting process (I am not a certified Filter Examiner). Impossible to say. I did find one or two more. In that 7k miles, no oil was consumed, and the car has 87k miles on it. So I think the engine is in good shape.

I think these filters can do 15k on a healthy engine.

Most likely sometime flaking off inside the engine. I see that once and awhile on engines that have many thousands of miles on them ... something can always come loose (ie, casting flash, etc).

High end Champ filter construction, a long way from the lowly STP ecore construction. Thinking the new Carquest blue when/(if) seen in real life will look much like this. And this has dome bypass like the new CQ is supposed to be. Some M1EP's used to be thread end, not sure if that's still the case.

This one looks good.

Nice cutter. Is that the Proform 66490 sold on Amazon? Looks like a much improved version of the the Jegs(Summit) cutter. Looks as though the guide wheel cross bar is recessed in between the guide wheels. Something the Jegs could benefit from, and/or closer together guide wheels.

Thanks for pics.

Looks great but please do not perform this procedure again unless you have a valid filter cutting certificate or are in the prescence of someone who does....

Just kidding. Looks outstanding. Thanks for the cut and post

It is my understanding that as long as I do it in the privacy of my own home, and do not profit from it, I don't need a license

Wettest May on record. Lots of snow yet to melt.

Picture of the seam side please. You're presenting the good side, which is perfect on almost every filter.

already tossed it. The seam side pleats were not as uniform as the good side, but did show reveal anything unusual.

You're right, though. Photos are incomplete without it. Next time...maybe October.

I'm following Honda's recommendation of new oil filter every other change, so my current M1 oi filter has roughly 19,000mi. I'm gonna do an oil change when I reach 10,000mi (20,000mi on oil filter).

I'll send a sample to Blackstone, and keep monitoring my Accord.

I hope you'll cut it open for us.
