Mobil Special, how old?

The parts department where I work has a can of Mobil Special 10w30, API rating of SF-CC. This is the cardboard carton with the metal top. What would be the date range for this oil?

My guess would be early '80's. You can pin it down by checking the API web site. I believe I saw a listing of effective dates for the various API Classifications. (SE-SF-SG-etc.)FWIW-Oldtommy

API SF came out in 1981. Carboard cans were completel dropped by manufacturers by about 1985....so it's somewhere between 1981 and 1985.

I guess 1982. If you have someoneone with a 1978 Toyota Corolla or such it will work just fine. Shake it first.

I would only use it as a collector's item, simply because more effective oils can be bought cheaply.
