Can get this stuff very inexpensively at a big box store, like $6.50 quart when it's on sale. I'm using Royal Purple exteded life filter with the M1. What do you guys think the oil change interval should be?? Driving - about half city, half hiway. And I don't beat my V6 Tacoma. Thank you, gents. Hot Ajax

5 thousand miles. Max allowable via the maintenance manual on my '04 Mercury. Currently running M1 0w-20. Soon to change to Mobil Clean 5w-20 when my stash of AFE runs out.

I believe Ford has revised their severe and normal OCI schedule from 3000 miles and 5000 miles to 5000 and 7500 miles...

Boss 302 gave you good advice

I run it in our C300. According to OLM, the regular change interval is every 13K miles or once a year, whichever comes first. In reality, I change it no more than every 10K miles.

FYI, if you wait for real sales, you can get it for less than $6/qt. NAPA had it for $5.79/qt the whole month of June. $6.50 is the everyday (non-sale) price at Walmart.

As far as your Toyota, I don't know how large of a sump it has, and that may dictate your OCI to some extent. Might be worth doing a UOA at some point to verify what a safe interval would be.

In my BMW Z3 3.0l I change the European formula every 2 years.(Low usage vehicle).
In my other vehicles I use M1 EP and change it out every year. I have over 160,000 miles on 3 vehicles (98 RAV4, 2001 PT Cruiser, and an 04 Town & Country, and this has worked out very well so far. No evidence of engine wear or sluge formation. Just switch to M1 high milage in the PT Cruiser and it no longer uses any oil between oil changes (prior 5W-30 needed a qt every 1000 miles since new).

Probably so....they didn't do it retroactively to '04 though.

My '98 Grand Marquis just pulled a 1yr, 9539mi OCI on a mix of M1 5W-30 EP & 0W-40... I have a sample, yet to send to Blackstone...

It's refilled with same, probably going for another year with likely less mileage, one errand that was adding 30-50 miles a week is no longer being run...

The "Gold Cap" Mobil 1 EP says that it's good for 15,000 mile oil changes.

We're using the M1 0W-20 in a 2010 Camry and changing anywhere from 7k - 9k with an OEM cartridge filter. 70K on the clock, so far. I don't really know how long the 0W-20 is good for - it doesn't say.

I use the HM in my car & change it between 7,000 and 8,000 miles. I use the EP in my daughter's and change it between 10,000 and 11,000. Buy both at Walmart & use a Pure One filter, unless I catch the special at Advance Auto. Walmart price for the HM is about $26 for the 5 quart jug and about $29 for the EP. Pure One filters are about $6 at Advance.

I called a local Mobil 1 Lube Express and they want $104 for an EP change. I pay less than $40.

Think Boss 302fan hit it without overthinking it. IN PA I'd do s spring/winter OCI regardless. If the engine gets very noisy or the oil looks terrible on a blotter, its gotta come out though.

I use the M1 full syn HM version. 7k but only because of aesthetics. Mechanical and driving conditions make the oil "look" dark and contaminated. I just have to change it, can't help myself...

My M1 butt dino meter says the dirtier looking M1 gets the quieter the engine gets.

Did I just see a pig fly by my window?

I put about 16k on my Focus a year. Once it's out of warranty, I'm going go to with 2 changes a year on it. M1 0w-20AFE in the winter and M1 0w30 in the summer.
