Mobil M1-209 now using louvers?

Hastings/Baldwin has the best louvers.

The M1 slotted tubes are ok, even if not as good as Hastings. But Purolator you should avoid since they're not always punched out properly, like in Z06's images above.

So for me, it's round holes or Hastings

With louvers, it is very important to buy a QUALITY FILTER. Mobil 1 IS QUALITY.

I would NOT trust a mass produced "loss leader" with louvers!!!!

I would take aN E-core before a CHEAP louvered POS!!

I think MicroGreen has the best louvers and the LF240 Hastings was great as well.
However I got a new production batch of Hastings LF655 with the silicone adbv and the first three rows of louvers were closed in 3 of the 4 filters- that was just from a flashlight view....

Cool it shall be run then.

Good call. As noted previously, M1 been using a louvered centerube design on majority of their filters for quite awhile. Use with confidence.

Why is there a gap at the bottom plate of the filter?
Also the filter advertises a bypass valve but i dont see it?

Hesitant to weigh in a third time as it seems 'imo', not really wanting to use the topic filter. That said, try to answer questions.

Based on the pic, dome end of center tube and interior dome endcap area look normal to me. Some of the potting/(glue) visible around the joining area which would also be normal.

As for the bypass, a google image search of the topic filter will indicate that this M1 filter as with many M1 filters, uses a thread end bypass. My speculation is that you're looking past the bypass and/or don't recognize what to look for. Without seeing it up close for final confirmation, confident it has one.

That said, still not confident in the M1, use something else. Many options out there.

Filter has been installed along with some shell helix ultra 5w30 fully in the toyota celica gen 7. So far so good. Done 60miles and engine has not blown up yet.
