Mobil 1 went up at local Walmart

I still saw the $22.47 price yesterday and bought a 5-qt of Mobil 1 5w30 HM.

Pricing varies. Walmart has some of the most sophisticated pricing policies in the world, and a lot of it is a matter of number crunching.

About how much is the price on a quart of that?

Was $7.99 a quart, now $8.07. So just 1%, not too drastic at all. I wonder if it's related to Walmart's price increase.

I knew that, that why I titled "Mobil 1 went up at local Walmart".

Seen Quaker State UD synthetic for 21.97 now too at Walmart. Wonder if it will rise as well....

Wonder if Mobil 1 is raising it too boost sales of Mobil Super. I do realize they are two different animals, but would be good marketing too bump them both then let consumer decide, the average of which at Walmart would pay the lesser amount....

I did not check Synpower, but in my local Walmart M1 went up to $24.97, but the shelves were emptied anyway when it was $22.47. Pennzoil Platinum is still $24.97 and PU is still $27.97. It will drop again at some point, it seems to go up an down quite often.

Now that Pennzoil Platinum and M1 are the same; which would you choose? It seems that Pennzoil Platinum has more certifications; I exchanged some Mobil Super 5000 for 2 jugs of Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 for my Mom's van because Dodge requires the MS-6395 certification and M1 does not meet/list it.

That's always the issue here. No matter how good the price is, it doesn't do much for me if the shelves are bare.

Wonderful, cases upon cases of Mobil 1 0W40 in my stash and I can't even use it on my new Mustang. It seems no-one carries 5W50 with a Ford approval anywhere. I have tons of the Motorcraft in stock at work, but I would like to run Mobil 1 if I could.

The Mobil 1 5W-50 does not carry the Blue Oval's stamp of approval??
(Yes, I know one cannot buy this weight Mobil 1 at their local Sino Mart.)

If you want to dump it I'd be interested.
Personally I'd just use it anyways. Its the most certified oil on earth. I find it impossible to believe it wouldn't be stellar in your mustang.

Agreed. I'd run it if it were my Mustang.

Meijer in Michigan still has Mobil 1 0w20 for $22.47 for 5Q jug, but it is sold out at a lot of them. The Ann Arbor store has a very limited lighter (0w20/5w20) selection of all oils in jugs. Other grades of Mobil 1 and PP (5w30) are $24.97. MC Synthetic Blend (5w20) is $17.97.

Walmart didn't change the price of Mobil 1 Extended Performance - still $26.97 in the Saline MI store. Same at Meijer but they only carry 5w30.

I went to return a jug of Mobil 1 5w30 HM and then saw the price increase for most of them. If there's any price changes, they're probably to the same price, but the timing seems to be dependent on the location.

I have noticed many oils jumping in price at my local W*M's. Super Tech and Mobil Super 5000 are just two. I think that Quaker State Ultimate Durability is up at some stores as well.
