Mobil 1 Website -- Oil Finder Tool

I was checking around Mobil's site to see what they recommend for the cars I'm maintaining. I did like 4-5 searches and then...BAM!

"Maximum number of searches reached

Really???...

M1 recommends their EP line for ultimate protection and all the other M1 variants for superior protection, with Super being the basic protection.

I found it quite interesting when I looked up my Sonata and it recommended all 30wts. Ultimate was the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30. Superior protection recommended 5w30 and AFE 0w-30. Basic protection was Super 5w30 or Super Syn 5w30. No 40wt recommendations for a turbo car! *GASP*

And the biggest *GASP* of all would be the filters they recommend. I saw Fram OCOD...TG was included, but no XG.

yep, I too was quite annoyed with the Mobil 1 Oil Selector site....BUT, Castrol's is even worse

I actually never tried the Valvoline one....BUT, yea, there's is kind of strange, it just tells you which "line" of Valvoline to use, not the oil weight.


IMHo, the best is the Amsoil garage as posted earlier....

It's very "complete" even lists the a/f, brake fluids, spark plugs, etc....req'd for the vehicle..AND the oil weights

I agree. Amsoil's site is very useful.

Who actually uses these things? They are not accurate, all they want is for you to buy there most expensive oil plain and simple.

Not true. Amsoil gives you their full range and if they don't have a product, they say so. Capacities are generally correct. It's not perfect but they will update any errors pretty quickly. The data comes from a 3rd party (Alldata?? I can never remember) and is tailored.

Well...when I clicked on the links that were posted and chose Ford (there was no designation between cars or trucks) no trucks were listed. When I go directly to the Amsoil site, I see there is a designation for Ford or Ford Trucks.

It was a JOKE anyway as I have no intention of using either regardless of the search engines capabilities--hence the smiley faces in my post.

Amsoil lists doesn't even have 2009 motorcycles.

Amsoil lists are pretty good. But these others like mobil, valvoline and pennzoil if you click one of the options like, good, best or better the same oil comes up for every vehicle imagined.

Well, the links did not have the trucks listed when I clicked on them OR I would not have said so. I think you are blowing this a bit out of proportion. I have no agenda, I made no negative comments about any of the items listed, and I extend my apologies if I somehow offended you or others.
