Mobil 1 vs. PureOne for a 10K OCI

Mobil 1 Mobil 1-205 versus the correct part# Purolator PureOne filter.

Is the Mobil 1 Filter significantly better performance wise compared to the PureOne filter? I plan on running it for 10K in a VW 2L with Mobil 1 Extended Performance 10w30.

I also recalled reading a while back that one of the filters (either Mobil 1 or PureOne), had some issues with being restrictive or having a less than ideal ADBV setup???

No, IMHO.

Not sure about the Mobil 1 Extended Performance stuff, according to FilterGuy, the media has been revised. The PureOne filtered finer than the old M1.

I don't think restriction is an issue; the pump is PDP until pressure relieve point.

After getting ripped by the local shop (to install the oil/filter), might have to run the oil/filter to 15K to recover the costs.

So, can the Mobil 1 Filter last 15K?

Yes...and so can a PureOne ..assuming the time frame is short enough.

BigG: Funny you should ask that Micael. You see, time tends to mean more starts. If the 15k is over a 9-12 month period ..well there's a good chance that the byproducts of start up are low enough to be handled well by the filter. OTOH, if it takes 2 years, who knows??? At that point the oil will probably have TBN depletion.


Run it 15k and do a PC on it.
