Opened them all, and not a single one had any issues whatsoever with flakes getting into the media.
I'm not saying that it can't and doesn't happen. Just not on what I saw.
And if it does happen I seriously doubt its going to cause any catastrophic results.
The quality of the internals is still there.


I looked again the other day at the Pure One filters at AAP, the few I sampled once again looked good.

i only looked at one of the new pure 1's this weekend just to check it out and see what it was all about, looked inside did not see any flakes on the threads or inside, so maybe the QC is getting better or it really isnt like some make it out to be.

But I would choose either one of the filters. I never bought a Mobil 1 becasue of the $10 price but recently got the 5 quarts GC and Mobil 1 filter deal so will run that eventually for several 5k oci's

I didnt really want to have that mental picture but since we're there a flatus flame would really brighten things up. Sure it may toast your buns a little more than you bargained for but it'd be a good show at least.

This must just be on the metal CAN PureOne filters. I just got me a PureOne filter (external cartridge for a 2.2l Ecotec). Its BLUE ... I don't see any gold flakes anywhere. You're all smokin something. I buy Purolator because they're MADE IN THE USA!
