Mobil 1 Truck and SUV

someday lifetime oil from factory lol
You jest, but I was involved in a project where we explored that possibility that the engine would be sold into some very sketchy locations. So sketchy, in fact, that we were directed to assume that if the oil was changed, it would likely be horrible substandard oil, and if the filters were changed, they might not even have any media in them.

So I looked at all kinds of ways to get that engine through its warranty period without at least having to touch a filter, and the only filter we could be sure was good was the one it was wearing when it left the factory. The factory oil was going to be stretched as far as possible, and it had a much larger-than-standard oil capacity specifically to reduce the likelihood of needing to change it within the warranty period.

The project never went anywhere, but it was quite an extreme exercise in trying to make something idiot proof.

I’m using it in my 09 Altima that I gave to my daughter for work. She drives 130 miles a day round rip to the hospital where she works. For tens of thousands of miles, this car never used a drop changed every 5k. She’s somehow found a way. I installed Mobil 1 truck and suv a few months back but haven’t been able to catch her to check it. My hopes were the oil would stand up to her cinder block foot. I’ll let you know. I figured she has to have 5-7k on it by now. I set the maintenance light to go off @7500, but she wouldn’t even notice it.
Well I was able to nail her down long enough to change the oil today. Over 12k on the oil and a clearance champ xl filter. Surprisingly, the car only used a half qt and no indications of condensation under the oil cap. Given that she starts the car and drives it as fast as it will get to 80 mph 120 miles round trip, there shouldn’t be. I’m not cutting the filter or sending the oil off to be tested. I don’t wanna know lol. Anyone who rips on Nissan needs to be a fly on the headrest while she goes about her daily schedule. Your opinion would change and life will take on a whole new meaning. Napa axles and control arms are holding up, as are the inner and outer tie rods. And for some unexplainable reason, the cheap Sam’s Club Pirellis are wearing like Fred Flintstones daily driver.

I've had good results with truck and suv in my 2024 Tacoma. Have sent samples to speed diagnostix and the numbers seem fine. May experiment with extended performance, it seems easier to find, but won't hesitate to run truck and suv as well.

This is the prominent oil forum in North America right?
I totally notice prices of oil in my area are affected by what is popular on here.
For a while after it's less than stellar rollout expectations, the Truck and SUV product was in line with Mobil's other vanilla variants pricewise.
Now it's third behind the ESP and Extended Performance High Mileage oils. It's resurgence seems to correlate with the newfound positive views I've read about it here lately referring to quality base stocks and PAO content🤔

I’ve read that Mobil 1 Truck and SUV has better oxidation properties than vanilla Mobil 1 in the same grade. This is supposed to also be true for (the now gone) Shell Rotella Gas/Truck oil (the red jug stuff).
If I had the choice of regular Mobil 1 or T&SUV in 0w20 at the same price…..I’d go with the T&SUV.

HPL’s lab. Truck and SUV outperformed EP as well. PDSC test results in bottom row.

Did a quick google search and I see that it’s on clearance sale now at AutoZone for $20 and Walmart for $24.97. Get it while the getting’s good.
As you say, at Autozone, you can purchase five quarts at a time, either singles or a jug, for $20. You get a $20 reward after five of those five quart purchases, yielding a sixth free jug if you wish. I’ve definitely taken advantage of the deal.
