I have a 2001 Corvette C5 with an auto trans. I have 15000 miles on the car currently. I have been using moblil 1 and a napa gold filter from day 1 ( I change both at 4,000 miles) With that said I have been taking the car out more and may get into some AutoX this year ( big maybe). If nothing else I intend to have a little more fun with the car. I have heard good things about Royal Purple engine oils and was wondering if this would be a wise upgrade for my car or should I stick with M1...Whats has better protection qualities for the long hual?

Mobil 1 hands down.
i'd stick with the mobil 1 also. 4,000 miles is a pretty short oci, have you considered running it longer?

Either one. They both far exceed the need, especially with only a 4,000 mile change interval.
Move up the 6,000 mile intervals, beat the heck out of the car, and you will still exceed the need.

I have used both and I would say to stick with Mobil 1. Your OCIs are short enough that it really won't (shouldn't) make a difference anyway. I am with you on the frequent oil changes. Oil is cheap and engines are not.
Even if you start running in SCCA events, I doubt you will beat your Vette too much anyway. The occasional pass down the 1/4 mile strip, run up the twisty mountain road or freeway WOT blast isn't enough to hurt your Chevy. Run it....enjoy it....it was built for it!!

Use oil that meet OEM spec for your car. Both Mobil 1 0w30 and 5w30 do:
