Been hearing rumors of this. Any truth to it? I do not use it but information like that would be helpful to me as a Cadillac service tech, and an avid biker. Thanks...

Though I don't follow this much - Mobil 1 has switched to a group III oil (still legally called Synthetic in USA). Mobil 1 now joins Castrol in the group III group.
Seriously though - unless you are going 15,000 miles and/or have a turbo/big engine - you shouldn't notice a difference between group III and IV+.
Either way, why use Mobil? Its around $7/qt where I live and I can get Amsoil for $5/qt.Have fun

BUT. I can go into my local walmart, and buy a 5 quart jug of M1 5w30 for 20 bucks. At $4 per quart, I don't THINK I can buy a better oil.

Funny how when Pennzoil switched formulations, no one cared..but Mobil?

Times change, technology changes, market forces change..even what some will call greed comes into the equation.
I just find it comical the depth that people are going over this. As you stated M1 is still a good oil. Worth the price? That is for the individual to decide. I just find it comical that some are knighting PP when they have switched back to Grplll within no reduction in price. Take advantage of Pennzoils push for increased market share (after years of their synthetics not selling.) Pennzoil is doing this for a reason..and it is NOT because they are nice guys. They have put a lot in PP and my guess to date have not been satisfied with their market share..hence the great deals. I doubt they will last.
