I recently bought a pack of M1-110a filters for my Hondas, and noticed they say "Made in Vietnam". I have been a bit out of touch on recent questions on M1 declines in quality, and have been questioning my purchase decision. I have nothing against products made in Vietnam, but I wanted the best filter for my daily drivers, so I am wondering if I should be considering another brand. Cost to me was about $10.25 per filter.

That's the new version of the Mobil 1 filter, now distributed through Highline Warren. Same efficiency rating (99% @ 30u) as the old Mann+Hummel Mobil 1, but a better build quality filter - and no louvers or ruffled leaf spring to stress over. I think some new M1 models are also make in S. Korea.

Be confident in your purchase. These new M1 filters are built very well. IMO best filter available at Wally. Here’s a c&p I did.

Having never been on the Purolator factory tour, it's a reasonable bet that M1's latest filter providers (in Vietnam/Korea) have newer factories and newer machines than Purolator in NC.

And as Korean companies are using Vietnam as their "Mexico"---it's quite possible that M1 is using a Korean filter company as its provider and that company builds some of its filters at a Vietnam plant.

Only way to be sure is to ask M1 or Warren

^^^ It's been shown that Mann+Hummel is no longer responsible to supply and support (ie, warranty) the Mobil 1 filters, and now Highline Warren has been chosen by Mobil to provide and support their oil filters, and Highline Warren is using Asian oil filter factories to have them manufactured.
