Well it's that time of the year again for the annual oil change on the 1970 VW Beetle.

I've asked about which oil to use on it before, but I already have one in mind. The car only has a 2 1/2 quart sump and no oil filter. It sees oil temps of about 235-sometimes close to 240 degrees.

I was told before that a HDEO would be a good idea for the high oil temperature and it being hard on oil, so I've used Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 for the past year and while it has done just fine, I'd like to try the HM 10w40 to see if it can slow down some leaks and oil burning.

Just wondering if it's up to the task, or if 235-240 degree oil temperatures are even that high. Thanks for the help

+1. Recently I called Mobil tech and they told me all Mobil 1 oils start to breakdown at 435F. You will have no problems.
