40-50% GTL?

30-40% GTL?

The M1 5W30 and some of the T&SUV SDS's were also updated.

I wonder if these changes are in anticipation of GM Dexos 1 Gen 3.

Those sheets are leaving out a lot. Those percentages add up to well less than 100 percent.

Nothing wrong with that really. The are obviously safety data sheets and not intended for full disclosure of what is in their oils.

I'd bet very decent money that those oils have a lot more going on there than what's disclosed on those SDSs.

ExxonMobil makes great products. And they supply many smaller blenders with base oils too.

MSDS for AFE can’t possibly add up to 100%. Bad info maybe? Maybe the missing bit is PAO or GTL.

I think AFE likely still doesn't contain GTL/PAO, but in smaller amounts. However it wouldn't surprise me either if it is majority III+ of some sort. This is only a 10k mile rated oil and when you compete for space at Walmart you have to be clever in your base oil blend to meet the price point. I don't think there is anyone better at doing that while keep the quality at the highest level than XOM.

I'm curious how much EP 0w20 sells compared to AFE 0w20. My assumption was always 0w20 EP was the best seller.

Pretty sure AFE is their top selling 0W20 oil within the Mobil 1 line. I rarely see distributors stock EP. Sam's and Costco only stock the AFE.

I find it quite fascinating for the vanilla grades of 5W30 and 0W20 to contain no GTL or PAO, but the vanilla 5W20 grade contains 30-40% GTL.

afe 0w20 has or had gtl and pao. pour point has not changed

they are just removing everything from the sds

That doesn't make sense. They updated other SDS sheets and those clearly list GTL and PAO if applicable. It would not make sense for Mobil to withhold PAO/GTL info for only one grade.

most group III fake synthetics are prolly quite similar + "good enough" for most users + depending on your climate + driving style + length of trips + if your cheap or not by extending drain intervals + skipping filters so use whatever brand you like that meets similar specs! thin or thick is another choice, a 1/2 mpg or longer engine life + of course a viscosity suited to your climate!!

Is that group 2 in the new one as well. Also gtl is missing
The "solvent dewaxed" product at the bottom? Yeah, that should be Group II/Group II+ I suspect. May be a carrier fluid.

They may not be calling out GTL either now for all I know. We've always been lucky with the MSDS Mobil sheets being as generous with information as they have been, so if they are now starting to hold that back, it just makes them more similar to their peers.

Thats what i was thinking. Wonder why their listing moly in the newest sds. Ive only seen that before in the m1 racing flavors. Maybe they have upped moly content?
