Are the newer Mobil 1 filters with the A (annual) code actually any different than the previous filters ? And are they no longer made by Champ Labs ?
I have a M1-102 from July 16 cut open, and a fresh intact M1-102A from June 18. The can and baseplate look identical, but I can see looking into the M1-102A that the adbv and bypass valves are different.

I was under the impression they upgraded the gasket to handle the longer drain interval, and put a different sticker on it with an A. Not sure if there is any further difference?

In my case, both the older M1-102 and the newer M1-102A have louvers. I can see quite a few internal differences just by looking in the outlet hole.

Efficiency of m1 without A is 99% on 25 micron and 15 k and with m1 with A is 99% on 30 micron for 20k.
