Makes you wonder if the 5w50 grade of Mobil 1 will be coming to the US.
"Question: Why do Castrol and others market SAE 5W-50 grade synthetic motor oil while ExxonMobil in North America does not? Does SAE 5W-50 offer advantages?
Question
SAE 5W-50 is not recommended for the vast majority of newer cars sold in North America. They are designed for SAE 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-30 and 10W-30 grades...and this is what car manufacturers recommend."
Ok then Mobil...with that line of reasoning, why do you offer 15w-50?

15W-50 is NOT used in most new modern OHC engines.
5W-20, 5W-30, and 10W-30 requirements are more common.

Awesome car with an awesome oil. No need for that grade of oil in the US unless you have a Viper. This Benz is pushing 623HP so a 50wt makes sense here.
Mobil 1 5w-50 is the most common grade here and the biggest seller. Most stores only carry this grade and are unaware that there are other grades as well.
Same here - just about all synths on the shelf are 5-50,Fuchs have the 0-20,but it's seldom used.Look hard and you will find other viscosities, but the public gets 5-50.
M1 5W50 is all you ever see here. Was cheap too until Supersyn version was introduced recently. Distributors and a few dealers have 10W30 but that is unknown to 99.9% of the population.
