None of the Ford engines I have owned that called for a 20 wt. oil uses any oil in 10K OCIs.

My 3.0 was designed in 1989 and was designed around 5w30 until Ford decided 5w20 was ok in 2002. They did the same thing with my 1960's designed 4.9l. So, no, they were not "designed" for 5w20.

My wife has an 08 CRV...that engine just seems so easy on oil. Never consumes a drop of oil. I've gone 8,000 miles between changes, 5,000, used conventional, synthetic, blends, different weights, different brands. It just doesn't care. Come to think of it, I don't think I've done one single repair (outside of maintenance). Nothing. 127,000 miles and not one issue.

New CRVs are entirely different. Can only get one engine and it is a TGDI. No thanks!
Honda has problems with a few of it's engines now.
