My wife has an 08 CRV...that engine just seems so easy on oil. Never consumes a drop of oil. I've gone 8,000 miles between changes, 5,000, used conventional, synthetic, blends, different weights, different brands. It just doesn't care. Come to think of it, I don't think I've done one single repair (outside of maintenance). Nothing. 127,000 miles and not one issue.
Overall ours has been reliable but we have had 2 issues within the last year. Issue #1 was a bad AC compressor that I had to replace. Honda actually extended the warranty on these but ours had already expired by the time it went out. Local Honda service manager told me they replaced so many compressors in our area that he actually kept them in stock until 2014 or so.
Issue #2 was the passenger side wheel bearing started making noise back in December and I had to replace it.
It has been a great vehicle and I almost want to keep it just to see how many miles it can rack up. Vehicle has no rust and the paint still looks pretty darn good to have been parked outside. Just for something different and the amount of miles, I'm going to a 5w30 next oil change. It does consume about a 1/2 quart every 10k miles or so.
