Mobil 1 changes recommended oil

I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance as originally recommended by Mobil on their site in Jan 2022. I checked yesterday and Mobil has now changed their recommendation to Mobil 1 Extended Performance high mileage. This for a 2021 MAZDA turbo. I'm trying to understand why the change? Ed

I don’t understand that all. I went and plugged in a 2021 CX9 that has that turbo 2.5 and all the suggestions were for high mileage oils and I left the 75k box unchecked.

Just use regular EP.

Did it ask you for the car’s mileage both times? Did you pass some “mileage milestone” between the two times?

I throughout they automatically recommend on Mobil 1 website HM if your car has more than 75k miles. How many miles you have?

Their website has a bug and shows HM EP picture for regular EP. The description should not say HM if less than 75k

Maybe Mobil's new recommendation is to GET your car to high mileage, not if it HAS high mileage. As for all the other versions of Mobil oil...

Awhile back I noticed Mobil1's website oil recomended 5w30 for my '16 Forester. Subaru's recommendation is 0w-20. I emailed Mobil for an explaination. They actually emailed me back within a few days and indicated that the oil recomendation part of the website contains errors and they are working to fix it.

Try a couple of the other companies and see and compare their recommendations.

It does sound like Mobil’s website is messed up as @2dogs mentioned above.

I checked the CASTROL website and no mention of using High Mileage oil before 7,500 miles. I think Mobil has a typo problem. Ed

Not sure why it selected that for you. I just entered Mazda3 turbo (2021) and it gave me Mobil 1 5W30 as the first choice, then EP...

I just noticed that you can view results by customer rating. I’m not sure that is a good idea. I wonder why EM would offer that option?

Both results are a 30-grade API SP oil, right?
