What ever the car manufacture recommends.
I believe tig1 was doing 10K OCI with regular Mobil 1 before he started using the EP.

10K with most Mobil 1 oils in most engines is no problem. I've been using the EP varity since it came out, but still do 10K OCIs. Did a couple of used oil analysis a year ago and several thou was left in the oil according to Blackstone. Many friends and family do 10K+ with regular Mobil 1 with good results. Mobil 1 0w-40 is expected to last 13k miles in our C300 since that is the factory OCI. Big oil sump though.

Yes that is a rather good point. In addition to that Mobil's 'SEVERE' service threshold is more lenient than the classic OWNER manual definition:
"Excluded service includes: commercial and racing applications; frequent towing or hauling; extremely dusty or dirty conditions; or excessive idling."
Seems like they're not even worried about city driving too much.

I do a fair amount of city driving( Maybe 40%) with no problems for 10K OCI. and the taxi test that XM did for EP showed city driving was doable for long OCIs as well.

I do 7-9,000 on AFE all the time,im approaching 8,000 on this last fill right now,probably change it out in a week or so when i get time that'll put me over 9,000.

It`s kind of funny,when I look inside the oil fill on my wife`s 06 C-280,the oil appear`s dirty but the motor parts look clean as a whistle.

Running short trips, city miles and a full winter service to a once a year OCI of 10,000 miles is a heck of a lot to get out of a jug of oil. I'm starting to believe it's safe up to that 10K too.
