And all done with good ol' pushrods, two valves per cyl., and a supercharger.

The was the same recipe Andy Granatelli used in 61 to take an otherwise stock 1960 Chrysler 300F Special to 179 mph at Daytona:

Not bad for a 4500 lb tank with the aerodynamics of a brick.

I and most teammates have been using Mobil 1 since GM required it back with the C4s.
Most of us also do heavy duty racing and I do not know of one case of an engine lost due to using the oil
Being GM now warranties engine for 100,000 miles you can be sure they tested the oil to assure no failures due to the oil they require being used

I raced for many years a ZR-1 including open road races that were 120 miles long at speeds around 160 MPH in Texas or Nevada heat with zero oil issues.

Being Mobil has a long tie with GM for many years they did a ton of testing with new GM engine designs built using Mobil 1 as the stock oil.

The ZR1 tops out at 205 mph:

And it has set a lap record at the Nurburgring:

Awesome car. I just wonder how many people would drop $100k on a Chevy? Same with the Ford GT 500. No matter how great the ZR1 is, it's still a Chevy.

At that price, there are a lot of other very nice cars that are more exotic. Audi R8, Porsche etc.

I'd be happy with just a base C6!

But it's funny to remind the Ferrari or Lamborghini owner that he just got spanked by a CHEVY!

If the C6 Z06s are doing high 10 sec 1/4 times factory stock, I bet a properly setup ZR1 could get low 10s dead stock. Just straight up balls. There isn't a Porsche, Ferrari, or Lambo out there that can do that.

Well there is utilitarian performance and art. There is alot of art in exotic cars and everyone can recognize the beuty in those machines. While the Vette retains its blue collar genes.

In a way it is art too, since most owners will rarely get to push these machines to their envelope.

Well, your paying for more than just the looks, but something that looked like that would be a welcomed addition in my garage.

This is when you need the money of Jay Leno so you can have one of each at your house.

Buster, the GT500 is not that expensive. Maybe you are thinking of the Ford GT? (the one that kinda looks like the old GT40?)

I'm surprised this engine can get away with using an oil that only has a HT/HS of 3.09.

HT/HS is only 3.09
Kv @ 100C is 11.3

WHy? A low friction valvetrain and appropriately designed bearings would make the lower viscosity perfectly acceptable. ALso there is a impressive large reserve capacity with how much oil this engine carrries around.

Exactly. If there were ever an engine oiling system put into a production car that's overbuilt, well, here it is! It's in the new Z06s and ZR-1s. Dry sump with 8 quart capacity. That, coupled with a modern state of the art roller valvetrain, and I'd rev the absolute bejesus out of these cars and sleep very well at night.
