My feeling is that this is their marketing department's response, rather than product development.

Because they go with "with a single oil change" cleaning argument, which is actually a worse thing than a 4 oil change argument.

That depends on how well the oil can dissolve debris.

But where will it go afterward? Either clog the filter and then cause un filtered oil circulate, or have it move around in the oil, and i am not sure which one is worse

If the debris was truly dissolved, I wouldn’t expect it to clog the filter.

This sounds a lot like my practice. I don't use thinner oil in my vehicles. I pay too much for a car and fail to give it better lubrication to help its life span.

I miss those days when manufacturers did share more specs about their oil. I wonder what HTHS does Valvoline Restore and Protect have. Probably only 0w40 would meet your expectation though

0W-20 is 2.65 and 5W-30 is 3.2 for HTHS.
