What do you think? There are 0w20, 5w20 and 5w30 grades.

I can't find this advanced clean variant on mobils site. Can you link it?
A MSDS was just created May 28th so the product is not released yet.

Keep in mind they also produced a Mobil 1 Turbo oil, which did even better than Mobil 1 EP on the stringent GM Turbo, test that was never released.

Could it be a VRP competitor? VRP is selling like crazy.

It's possible.

This is speculative at this point but it wouldn't surprise me. It's been a huge seller for Valvoline so I'm sure beyond a doubt the others are watching it and have RE it.

Funny, but every Mobil 1 oil I've used with any amount of PAO in it has kept my engines sparkling clean. So in my mind, it is strictly a marketing issue. Good on Valvoline.

Out of curiosity, does Valvoline R&P contain any PAO? If not, what is in it that is doing all the cleaning?

I'm currently running Mobil 1 EP 0w20 in my Jeeps and it is still showing, IIRC less than or equal to 30% PAO, which is down from its older formulation, but still substantial, in my estimation.

I think in the most recent SDS it is like 10%. Can you double check.

Perhaps the third item is a cleaner? @MolaKule do you know what the 3rd line is in the MSDS?
The first item in Post 13 is most likely a Group II base oil.

The second item in Post 13 is a Group IV PAO base oil.

The third item in Post 13 is most likely a Group I carrier oil for the additive package.

The fourth item in Post 13 is the primary anti-oxidant.

Not shown is the VII, the metal inhibitor, the corrosion inhibitor, the defoamer, the detergent/dispersant, the anti-wear additive, and a number of other chemical agents.

So PAO is less than 30% in EP now. Keeps going down

Never knew there was a turbo oil. Vrp does sell but it's a shame they nor mobil plan on making a euro/diesel 40 grade version.

Most if not all synthetics advertise reduced deposits.

Some advertise cleaning engine sludge/deposits.

Few advertise reduced piston deposits.

One advertises cleaning existing piston deposits to factory clean.

Valvoline claims it’s cleaning piston deposits with an additive. They’ve been very tight lipped. It will be interesting to see Mobil’s approach.

EP claims it removes sludge in one oil change. Their big claims are still there despite PAO going down.
