Mobil 1 15w50
'99 Honda Magna VF750 4 cam V-4 engine
Total miles on oil: 5,000
Total age of oil: 12 months
Just got my second UOA from Blackstone. This is Mobil 1 15w50 "red cap" that I put in my Magna about a year ago. First UOA was last September with 3,000 miles. This one was 2 weeks ago with 2,000 more miles. So this oil has 5,000 total miles a 1 year in the crankcase.
Numbers are second UOA / first UOA / universal averages. The averages are for a 4,000 mile interval.
Al 17 14 32
Cr 1 1 1
Fe 10 9 19
Pb 1 1 8
Tin 0 1 3
Si 10 5 14
Ca 2666 2655 2032
P 1052 1106 897
Zn 1228 1336 1083
vis 79.9 83.3
flash 390 370
TBN 9.0 10.3
fuel
Silicon went up. But I have moved since the last report and now live at the end of a 2 mile dirt road, so with 4 miles of dirt for every ride, elevated Si is to be expected, yet it's still below the universal averages for this engine.
The oil has sheared down to 79.9 SUS @ 210* F, which is in the mid to high 40 weight range. So the Mobil 1 has sheared down a grade, but it's still in spec for this engine which recommends 40 weight oil.
Total insolubles remains 0.1%, which shows that the Honda OEM filter is doing a good job.
Blackstone's advice is to run another 2,000 miles and sample again.
Overall, I'm happy with the Mobil 1. After 1 year and 5,000 miles it's still got useful life remaining.
