so the green cap mobil 1 did not gain you MPG? how much gas $$ does the back of the bottle say you can save when you use their oil?

Hey guys...Blackstone sent me a revised report regarding the flashpoint , cst, sus, etc....they originally had the specs down for 10W30 rather than 0W30...the revised charts shows the numbers did quite a bit better than shown before no?

As far as prior UOA's listed...the 2973 was with Valvoline A/C 5W30, the 3254 was with Castrol GTX 5W30, the 4378 was with Kendall GT1 Synth Blend 5W30 and the 7247 was with Pennz Plat 5W30.

Other flavors this engine has seen is Synpower and blend of 4qts of Havoline Synth with a quart of dino Havoline old formula mixed in.

Right now there is Shell 5W30 in there....I have a bunch of it I bought real cheap at Walmart that I need to use up. Also have a bunch of old Havoline dino that may make it into the sump at some point...it is the SL variety so a little leery of that...any reason not to?

Also have 5 qts of .99 cent Royal Purple I plan on using at some point..that is SL also so I guess I can use the dino SL without any leeriness..lol

Cute...not sure how much that you are supposed to save but they do tout the green cap 0W30 as a $$ saver but given better mpg....so says their marketing dept lol

Make me glad I am running Redline in the LS3

Fuel savings between different oils will be too small to easily notice. 1% or so at best, but usually less. That is 1/3 to 1/5 mpg for most cars. So there probably is a difference, but it is too small to really see.

I will be looking forward to seeing your next UOA with the Shell.

Thanks Goose.

Honestly that stuff is not worth the money to me.

Mobil5000 is 8 bucks and change for the 5 quart jug at wallymart. Its an absolute no brainer for me.

I don't even mess with the oil deals or mail in rebates too much anymore.

I usually run the mobil for 4500 miles.

My ecotech (03 saturn ion), recently got 33.5mpg partially due to new ngk plugs, and a new denso o2 sensor.

Not bad with mixed driving and the ac blowing most of the time.

Actually the viscosity is back within grade with the corrected report.

Have not noticed a drop in mpg after changing to the Shell dino after 1k miles

The values at what is should be at changed because Blackstone originally processed it's findings as a 10W30 rather than 0W30...as a 10W30 it was out of grade...as you can see on the 2nd report the numbers look a lot better in that regard (I think) lol
