Yeah, the search button is always a great idea, but the search feature of this site is awfully slow, and it's really tedious.

Anyway, looks like the main difference between VW502.00 and VW503.01 is that the latter is designed for extended drain, which is not (yet) applicable to US Audi cars. Some oils, like M1 0W-40 meet both VW specs.

Thanks for the confirmation, m-man. Looks like, from another post, that Unocal 5w40 Synthetic meets 502.00, too, but I've yet to see any of that oil in my neck of the woods.

I haven't come across any Unocal oil either. Who would carry it? Maybe 76 gas stations, but didn't Unocal and 76 split up?

Seems I recall that BP purchased Union 76 earlier this year, though. Our local BP stations have rebranded to Union76.

It's really hard to keep up with all the mergers that have occured the past few years.
