I don't know the method of figuring it out ..but Terry has no trouble seeing evidence of fuel issues without fuel being present. I guess if it looks like duck droppings and quacks like a duck ..you don't have to ever see the duck

Such a beautiful and rare vehicle being murdered by owner's negligence. Sorry but go 2 years/12k+ miles and this is the 1st UOA. Fool!

Owner needs to do several 3k OCI's to rinse this engine out. And, the owner needs to practice a sane OCI, mileage or TIME based!
Is the rest of the vehicle in decay and neglect too?

The high iron, low flash point and maganesse are what scream fuel issue! The aluminum cromium and nickle added to this makes me think piston and wrist pin wear. Wrist pins are made out of some nice quality steel and they tend to high amounts of nickle and cromium. Sure timeing chains and other parts also have cromium and nickle but they are not going to be interacting with alumium directly usualy. The valve trian parts tend to have less nickle in them and some tin. The alminum could come from many sources in some blocks but not in high enough amounts to account for what we see here so pistons are a dead give away.

The high fuel is washing down the cylinders so that the rings are rideing metal to metal at some points. This allows the piston to cock more then it should in it bore and the piston skirt is allowed to hit the bore scuffing off alumimum. THis could also but too much strain on the wristpin wich is going to be starveing for lube as well because the fuel is blowing by the rings and getting at the wrist pin from the lube hole in the ring lands. So the only thing we really need to wory about is where the iron is comeing from rings or wristpins or both?????

This engine has only 30,000 miles on it plus appears to be driven very little to boot. My Ford v8s took 50,000 miles to finish breaking in before the wear metals etc dropped off. i'll bet he could change nothing, get the same report for the next 150,000 miles and the engine would still be going strong. 41 PPM for Si in this engine, not bad IMO for the mileage about 15 PPM in a 5000 mile OCI.

6 qts,. of makeup oil

No wonder the TBN is still high after so long.

I wonder why he just didn't do a complete change and move on. Not a happy engine now.

Short trips = rust due to never boiling off condensation.

OCI should be in his case perhaps 4K max. I'd change oil filter and air cleaner and run 4K and re sample.

Also Id go to a 5/30 I like more oil film than a EC 5/20.

I doubt this owner would be willing to go an Auto-Rx app considering his oil change habits, but you never know...

The 6 quarts of makeup oil was a mistake. This was his first time doing a UOA and he misunderstood what they were asking.

He added one quart total makeup oil over the OCI - half a quart each on two separate occasions.

This OCI is just flat too long - silicon, dirt, short driving. The oil is full of contaminants and the wear is showing it. Why play with a special edition engine like this?
