Good evening everyone. This is my first UOA on my 2019 Colorado. Had the truck since new but let the dealer take care of oil changes while I was in the extended warranty period. They also were free so no harm no foul there hopefully.... At any rate, this is the first run through on standard Mobil 1 though I suspect that is what the "DEXOS" oil at the dealer was as the part number always said Mobil 1 when I pulled it. Standard delco cartridge filter too. This change has a mix of towing and some cold weather idling and short trips. I always run by the oil life monitor, it was showing ~8% when changed.

I suspect the fuel is because of the recent short trips as is the thinning. It's been cold and my drive to work is short. I'd say everything looks fine no?

I kind of figured such. I'm curious how the next few will go. This si the first time the truck lost a noticeable amount on the dip stick but maybe next go around it doesn't. I'll be running the M1 for a while. Walmart had a pretty good sale and I snagged two 12 quart boxes for ~$4.80 a quart. Cheapest I've seen oil in a long time.

With 5w30, I buy brands that will end it's OCI in viscosity over 9 and flashpoints above 400. Depending on brand and recipes, I sometimes need to add a quart or two of 0w40 to achieve my goals.
In your case - should you continue with the same oil, I'd cut the OCI to 5k and re-evaluate when I got the UOA back, to see how close to 9 and 400 you will get.

Many here think the flashpoint and fuel analysis at Blackstone are noticeably wrong most times, due to means of collection-type protocols. So maybe try another Analyzer next time for comparisons. Many here are comfortable with 5w30s ending in the 8s. That's fine also. It's just not me.

Nice Colorado you have there. We still have our 2005 Colorado, now 20 years old and fed frankenblends from day-1. Not even a lifter or valve cover removed and still only uses less than a quart of oil per OCI.

This Colorado replaced my 04 trailblazer with the I6 funny enough. Those atlas engines run **** near on anything. That also ran whatever and has something like 300k miles on it. I was running the OLM on that with analysis and running out to 15k miles in some cases. My last one was 10k and that was a 9.86 and 400 back in 2015. Mobil 1 as well I believe.
