I have played with the ratios of MMO + TC-W3 used together and for my Hyundai Elantra I use MMO (960:1) and TC-W3 (1920:1) primarily just to get a little more lubrication and cleaning to the Top Tier gas I use . This ratio also provided best MPG for my vehicle (1 - 2 MPG greater) . I tried a ratio of MMO (640:1) and TC-W3 (1280:1) and MPG dropped slightly - your milage may vary ... For reference the "standard" ratio for MMO used alone is 320:1 and the "standard" ratio for TC-W3 used alone is 640:1 . At that raio, he's burning roughly a pint of MMO per 3000 miles and a cup of TCW-3. Absolutely nothing to worry about.

This is the reason I've always been too nervous to use MMO. I do use TC-W3 at around 850:1 (about 3 ounces per 20 gallons) and I've had good results. I recently started cutting the TC-W3 with 3 oz of Xylene prior to adding it to the tank (3 oz of TC-W3 and 3 oz of Xylene in a re-purposed 6 oz Regane bottle). The Xylene does a great job thinning out the mix and also provides a slight octane boost to offset the effects of the TC-W3. Plus I got a few quarts of Xylene for around $1 each at a hardware store going-out-of-business sale so its super cheap right now ; )

I've been using different ratios of xylene/acetone/toluene mixed with tc-w3 as well. I've also discovered that overdosing will lower mileage.

Tc-w3 is ashless and leaves no residue,so its a non issue as far as the cats go.
 
I've found that MMO reduces MPGs if used too rich.

I've tried combos and saw no appreciable benefit.

My selection these days has more to do with ambient temperature than anything else.
 
Ive been on and off the top oiling bandwagon the past few years. Since the PVC will provide tiop oiling I will assume the primary bene is injector lubing, and fuel pump lubing. Any viscous fluid at too high a ratio will cause the injector atomized fuel droplets to agglomerate at any given rail pressure, and THAT may lead to lower fuel mileage and worse ignitability. I would imagine lubing and "sealing" the perimeter of the piston top would help ringland flame carryover preignition and halt low-rpm leakdown (lugging cyl pressure loss) - but you would need 100/1 to get that benefit - and thats out the window.
 
I hover around 400:1 with MMO and correlates to 4oz per tank and my tank is 13.2 gallons. With TCW3, I stick with 750:1, which is 2.5oz in my 13.2 gallon tank. I track my mileage religously and you can see it in my signature. Honestly, I use these products as maintenance and if increased MPG's occure, great.
 
my idea is that benefit from MMO or TC_W3 will not be seen in 1,000- 20,000 miles other than a smother running engine. the big benefit will be seen in 200,000- 400,000 miles. JUST MY IDEA.

Oh man, someone needs to do a used oil analysis of 8oz catchcan "oil" from a turbo vehicle, or any car that runs one that gets significant "catchings."

You can smell dirt, oil gas and it's got water in it. And males have bad sniffers for the most part.

Every once in a while damaged cat converters and damaged sensors pop up in these threads. I've probably used more MMO in gas over the years than just about anyone on this board. My 88 E-150 still has the original CC and its just fine. My 93 Aerostar went to the junk yard with 212,000 miles with the original 02 sensor and CC. I'd bet big money it would have gone a lot longer if everything around the engine and transmission didn't fall apart. I don't see any problems using MMO or TCW3 added to the gas using the recommended doses. I've been adding MMO to the gas or feeding to an engine via an Inverse oiler since the 1970's, I haven't replaced a CC yet. In fact I never had a bad 02 sensor, if I changed one it was strictly as a maintenance move.

I've also mixed MMO and TCW3 together.

Assume your car is doing 20mpg. If you are using TC-W3 in the recommended dosage (1oz/5gal), 100 miles will use 1oz of TC-W3 giving you consumption rate of 1QT of TC-W3 per 3200 miles.

If you are using MMO, then it would be 2QT of MMO per 3200 miles.

Do you feel comfortable with that burn rate? What would you think if you were burning 2QT of oil per 3200 miles?

Secondly take a new car into a dealer complaining that it uses a qt of oil/1600 miles and they'll tell you its normal. In fact a qt/1000 miles is considered normal, and I've heard cases where a qt/600 miles is considered normal. As I said I haven't wrecked a CC or O2 sensor yet, so I'm not worried. I'm still using it in my 3 vehicles, no worries at all. Opinions vary, lets see if this turns into a UCL bashing thread.

I don't see the correlation. MMO isn't motor oil and serves a completely different purpose. As dermapaint pointed out, he has "burned" a lot of MMO with no ill effects. You might as well have said, "What would you think if you were burning 160 gallons of oil per 3200 miles?" (referring to the amount of fuel burned).

It's supposed to burn clean. If it didn't I certainly wouldn't be using it in my gas tank. Some 2 stroke oils don't burn clean but tc-w3 oils are engineered to burn with no residue,which makes them perfect for ucl
 
what tcw3 brand are you using?

I'm just surprised I cannot find comparisons of dino, semi, and full syn. Or does it truly not matter at such tiny ratios?
