Any LL-01 rated oil will work well in your application, including Mobil 1 0w-40.

Why? These engines are good and don't have any inherent problems with the fuel or lube system.
Use a recommended oil and drive it, additives and chemical cocktails are not always a good thing.

No one has pointed out yet that at 120,000 miles the OP's BMW is likely due for a major service.
The threat title is "MMO in BMW" and posted in the oil additive section, the OP did not mention anything about wanting to perform any service or solicit advise on same.

I know mineral spirits is used in many home brew aluminum polishes. I wonder about MMO because it has a lot of mineral spirits, what effect will it have long term on the cylinders?
I am not saying it is somehow bad for aluminum but if it is the basis for aluminum polish one has to wonder. I dont have an answer its just a thought and a question, maybe someone could chime in and shed a little light.

Hopefully you got an Owner's Manual with the vehicle. If not I'd get one pronto. I did a quick web search but didn't come up with a definitive answer for you.

I remember on the old straight sixes we used to check the #5 and 6 cylinder for scoring. This was directly related to cooling system neglect, it was very common.
Leaking oil pressure senders were another common issue.
