Mitsubishi MZ690072 Virgin C&P

Sorry I cut this. For my 24 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2L this will work
In applications suited to Fram 7317 flavors.
A work of art. Pre-lubricated baseplate seal and the baseplate is super smooth and deburred and I have never seen one finer.

The adbv is a perfection fit on both sides. It actually snap fits in place.
The filter media is very consistent and by design no glue on the face and remarkably spotless.

No overspray in the can and rather thick. The bpv. spring fits extremely well and is under a great deal of compression in the can... so much so it's hard to replicate by hand.

The bpv. itself is a nice design that does not wobble or shift.

The baseplate threads are dull and clean.

The design itself is very modular avoiding glue issues and potential debris. Impressive filter. $10 and in volume $8 each

Guessing the adbv is silicone? Time for burn test 😛😛

Out of the dozen or so oil filters in a box from various makes, this last time I used the 90915-yzzn1 by Denso. I don’t know if it’s an optical illusion but the baseplate here is convex on the inside while the others have a slightly concave depression. The media is a darker yellow than Toyota filters have been, but not as dark as the N1. I suspect Mitsu is ordering by their tweaks to the Toyota design.
What does base look like on the outside?
media can be held to a bright led flashlight to rough check for light spots.

I have confirmed that it really doesn't matter as a defective Fram has no efficiency. So if you figure that in plus it's oem that works for me. Maybe not others but it is what it is.
There may be some truth to your statement.

With the leak at the leaf spring, and that recent post showing a tear in the internal Fram Ultra filter material at around 4,000 miles, the "cheapened multiple times" Fram Ultra may have a filtering efficiency that could be unsafe for modern engines.

Leaky filters still have efficiency, but the decrease in efficiency depends on the size of the leak. Don't forget that pesky little 0.02% leak at the filter mount threads, lol.

Hi everyone, great info on this site and thread. Newbie question here.
I have two Subarus, 2020 Outback and 2021 CrossTrek.. They both are recommended to use the OEM filter - Subaru Oil Filter 15208AA21A. That filter is of the 7317 family noted at the start of this post.

It is safe to say that this Mitsubishi MZ690072 filter will fit and work well for a Subaru? Any reason to go with Subaru OEM filter over this one? The details on the Mitsubishi look like a real solid filter choice. I would assume that is the case, but would appreciate confirmation.

That's a beautiful filter if price is right I wouldn't run anything other.

I use it on my Honda too
How much are you paying for this filter and what is your purchasing method? I searched eBay and contacted my local Mitsu parts dept before settling on the Full ATM 2ONS002 filter from NAPA Auto. I was able to get the Full filters for less than I could source the Mitsu filter and they're pretty beefy filters also made in Thailand. Not sure if anyone is aware that AAA membership saves a few bucks at NAPA so I took advantage of that.

Quick facts.
  • Important Information: FULL Long Life OES Brand - FULL is an OEM Manufacturer
  • M-Pleat Filter Media – Up to 30% increase in filtration surface area compared to conventional filter media, providing increased dust holding capacity and longer product life cycle. Filter media is resin heat-treated to increase structural integrity to withstand high oil pressure.
  • Silicone Anti-Drain Back Valve – Provides durability throughout the extended life of the oil filter
  • Heavy Duty Spin-On Base Plate – Designed using OEM Standards, ensures proper fitment
  • Spiral Wound Supporting Core – Constructed from premium grade steel, provides additional internal strength
  • High Performance Filter Cap – Covered by high quality adhesives which provide tight bonding to media and ensure zero internal oil leakage during operation

Post #5 and 6 answer this.

I've done a few tear-downs on FULL filters (Nissan / Honda 7317 size) and I ended up with mixed feelings. In the end I've gone with Pentius PLXL that I found on Amazon (12-pack) which are same/similar to Car Quest Premium, etc.

This is my first rodeo with the FULL brand, DOS sometime in December EOS will be in June I will cut this one open and definitely report back on here with my findings.

Excellent, please do. I can probably share some information at that time as I need to continue and update my thread / spreadsheet. Currently I have the first Pentius PLXL7317 filter doing a run on the first OCI of Valvoline Restore and Protect.

One of the better resources for info regards specs is the Wix filter site.

Looking at those two filters you inquire about, using the Wix equivalents as elements of comparison and contrast, the major difference is the BP pressure setting; the Subie filter has a much higher rating.

Will they interchange in terms of fit? Yes.
Will they perform identically in terms of function? Not totally.
It's up to you to determine if the disparity is worth the risk of common use or not.

I have a history of FAIL with Thai Denso on Suzuki and Toyota back in early Y2K. The reason I joined this joint. I had to go back to O.E Lexus foam core Japan Denso for my TCT and VVTi to work.

But this one looks pretty.

I don't know if I missed it but is the bypass setting range notated anywhere? I used to lookup Wix, data but I am having doubts I could trust it. - Thank you, Jim. The filter thread was getter pretty boring of late.

- Arco (who is getting REALLY tired of shoveling and snow blowing at 9PM to midnight!)

So no bypass range numbers?

In the meanwhile, I looked up WIX data for this app. Reports a typical 9-11psi Delta
