Good day!

Seriously considering this for my 1994 Montero 3.5 liter This seems to be a great dealfrom ebay, which has me concerned. Fuel pump ebay

Opinions on this Denso Fuel Pump? I always use OEM parts. This part is $500.00 at the stealer. Denso is manufacture of OEM parts for my Montero. I check amazon, Rock Auto etc. Which are double the price for same exact part.

Denso fuel pump

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Trails.

Although Beck/Arnley has a solid reputation, they have been a hit or a miss in my experience. That said, Mitsubishi parts aren't exactly cheap and I hear you on the $500 price tag.

I would suggest you go for the Denso 9500123 or Valeo 347251. They're $109.89 and $105.89 on RockAuto.

Denso is mostly owned by Toyota. They wouldnt steer you wrong, would they? (dont answer that...).

Is Denso one of the companies who's had trouble with counterfeit parts showing up on eBay? That would be my main worry in spite of a 5-year seller with a stellar feedback rating.

I disagree because of how much labor is involved in replacing an in-tank fuel pump.

I like the idea of using a Denso pump because their OEM pumps usually last over 10 years.

Note that the part in question is a Beck/Arnley part. BA only sources parts, not manufacturers them. Evidently this one is sourced from Denso, which is not a surprise.

I haven't heard of many counterfeit aftermarket parts. And I've never heard of any counterfeit B/A parts. It would be weird to counterfeit an aftermarket brand, then repackage it in another aftermarket brand's box.

Aren't OE parts the most common target of counterfeits? And this item is being sold by a US seller that as you noted has been selling for years.

I would say the chances of it being counterfeit are very, very low.

In this particular application, Mitsubishi have engineered it so you don't have to drop the tank. You simply pull the carpet in the cargo area and there's a cover with a couple of bolts right over the fuel pump. Granted, it's still a painful job.

That being said and done, I personally like to fix a problem and move on. "Whatever is cheapest" may get the job done temporarily, but I'm not going to waste time or money doing a repeat job when it can be sorted right first time.

Maybe vehicles last a lot longer in NM or this one is exceptional. In New England 20year old vehicles have one foot in the grave unless barely driven.

Most places in New Mexico don't use road salt, even at high elevations. A friend lives in Santa Fe and has never heard of road salt being used in that area.

Good day!

Referring to my Montero. I purchased it new and its garage kept. It is in outstanding condition. Its a secondary vehicle. No rust etc.......................

cheers,

You're wrong. Usually it's both feet. Or it's a zombie car and just doesn't realize it.

I'm starting to feel like the odd person around where I am. My daily driver is about the oldest I see on a regular basis (and looks it). Just coming up on 10 years old now.

I think that stat about how the fleet is supposedly 11 years old on average must be heavily weighted to the south.
