I do pretty much the same…. You get the 3 flashes (because that’s what my tap to pass is), but I’m coming over after that 1st flash.
Properly signaling your intention to merge in Chicago is considered a threat and will not be tolerated

There are also those that turn on the signal and expect everyone else to just let them in and get mad if that doesn’t happen.
I disagree, Until I'm fully within the lane do I quit the blinkers. That's just obvious safety to me. I don't care if I annoy other drivers.

Of everywhere that I have ever lived Wisconsin is the absolute worst place in terms of people either improperly using their turn signals or just not doing it at all. Very regularly I saw people who would very abruptly slow down very quickly and then make a turn at the last second, many using their turn signal only after they had begun making the turn if at all.
I do wonder to what extent people have been educated by drivers ed in public schools or other private driving courses but I think those efforts are failing many people, in Wisconsin in particular.
I know what the standard is for CDL drivers and typically whether I'm driving a truck or a passenger vehicle I tried to time every turn to allow for at least three blinks of the turn signal if not letting it go for several more circumstances permitting.
Still though the issue is that too many people are not paying attention while operating a motor vehicle and I would submit that many are overly reliant upon driver assistance features on their newer vehicles which to give them a false sense of security and effectively enable people to drive distracted.

Don’t think so. It is not a matter of what I think, the law requires you to signal in advance. You seem to think you are above the law
I'm sure many of us here do things we shouldn't when driving, myself included. Like reading and responding to a text message behind the wheel.
They also take corners at 50% of the posted advisory speed- riding their brakes the entire time.Then they proceed to crawl through their turn at 0.5mph. They’re the same ones who take 6 business days to hit 45 because RPM’s are scary or something I don’t know
I’m pretty sure we’ve all broken some sort of traffic law at one point or another and will likely do so in the future. That doesn’t mean anyone feels they’re above the law.

In my experience on roadways where there are more than two lanes going one way, the right lane has now become the fast lane because it's cool to drive slow in the left and center lanes.
The point of using turn signal is to signal your intentions, not the fact, giving people behind and around you just enough time to understand what you're gonna do. Not turning the signal half mile ahead of your turn either.

the worst is being in the left lane behind one of these morons. No signal tells me he's going straight, but no, when the light changes and oncoming traffic starts going through, the signal light comes on and we wait through a whole green light before he turns on the yellow and I'm stuck at another red. If the signal is on, I know to get in the right lane before I'm stuck behind him.
