Just bought a new to me/CPO 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV with 3000 mile(Yep, 3000 miles). This car is equipped with OE Michelin Primacy MXV4's in 215-55-17/93V. UTQG 500

I'm loving'em thus far! Smooth, quiet, good riding/handling! But hmmmm, the car is new!... Everything should be quiet, ya think!

I haven't had Michelin tires in years. And have never purchased them aftermarket. I've ONLY had them on cars that were equipped with them. And have always like the ones that came on the vehicles, very much in fact!

I don't have any questions but, any comments are welcome about the Michelin Primacy MXV4's

For those who may be curious... the car stickered for $26,345+ with standard 2.5 SV features, and a few options(Flaps, Mats, Wheel Locks, Moldings). And sold for $19,295 CPO w/5/60 bumper-2-bumper & 7yr/100K Warranty on drivetrain.

First, those are OE tires and will be unique to the vehicle. Other folks who have tires with the same name but on a different vehicle will experience different things because they are truly different tires (except for those folks who also have Altimas).

I own one set of Primacy MXV4s. They were not OE to the vehicle we have them on, but they are OE for the current Honda Odyssey (P235/65R17). We have them on our MDX and have been quite pleased with them. Quiet, comfortable, grippy, etc. I've owned a few OE Honda tires and have been happy with all of them.

Based on current wear rates, we should get an honest 50,000 miles out of our MXV4s, which I'd be happy with. They have a 65,000 mile tread wear warranty, but I don't expect to get that much out of them, especially being an OE tire and installed on a 4,500 pound SUV. But we should get 50k.

Keep an eye on 'em. My guess, 30k and done. My Camry got a set, albeit 205's, and 30k was their lifespan. I recall the size I had was likewise 500 utqg.

Great tire, quiet, good wet traction. Lousy in snow we thought.

Not the exact same tire, but I had MXV4+ as an OE tire on my Accord once. They were quiet and comfy alright, but that's about it. Dry/wet/snow traction was very disappointing.

I'm not sure as of yet, if I am going to run these wheels/tires during the winter. I have 'til Black Friday to make my decision

I am currently selling my '04 Altima in my signature which has the 16" OE Steelies and Pirelli P4's which I use in the winter and, 17" Wheels/Tires for the summer.

I may sell the '04's 17" custom wheels separately or with the '04 Altima and keep the 16" w/P4's for the winter on the 2015 Altima...IDK!

I do like the new 2015 Altima's 17" OE Aluminum very much but, I'm not sure what I want to do yet as I am getting tired of winter/summer tire/wheel changeovers!

We put MXM4 tires on the VW rabbit, and love them in the wet and in the snow. No complaints!

Correct: not the same at all. That tire was the Energy MXV4+, an entirely different tire line. The Primacy MXV4 shares a similar tread pattern, but other aspects of the tire are likely significantly upgraded (tread compounds, etc).

Had that tire as OE on Accord. Lasted ~30k miles and couldn't/wouldn't recommend.

Currently have V rated Primacy MXV4's as replacement, solid tire and very satisfied. According to TR looks like no longer available in 215/50-17.

Acquired the Primacy, returning Conti DWS after 30 days due to unbearable flat spotting vibration.

My H-rated set has been on the 2012 Mazda 3 for a year - replaced the Turanza EL400's that were OEM. Probably not a fair comparison, but wasn't sure I liked car until I put the new tires on it. The handling and ride quality improved immensely. This was the first time I ever spent this much on tires.

Which MXM4? There are at least 4 models with mxm4 in the model name.

from previous posts it seems all your tires wear out early? Alignment issue? Spirited driving?

Sometimes alignment is good enough to be "ok" but not good enough.. in other words the spec range is too wide.

OE tires on our Ody are the MXV4, and they won't make it to 35k miles. They absolutely stink in the snow, so being in NY you should be concerned. They are no better than average in the rain.

Maybe the aftermarket MXV4s are better, but I'm not shelling out Michelin level money on a maybe. I will not be buying them as a replacement.

Should I run winter/snows or some better(in the snow)all season tire for winter(H727) on some 16" steelies, I'll save the MXV4 for the summer only!

Mine have 30k miles on them and have 7/32" of tread left - they start with 10/32". I've always had pretty good luck with these but you know as they say...YMMV

EXACTLY. I had them OEM MXV4 on a top-of-the Line Accord EX-L. They were noisy, would break loose on over spray from the city's geenbelt, and in the rain were outright dangerous. I changed them at 40,000 because I feared for my safety.

I'd say run them to 30K then keep a close eye on wet and snow traction. Mine threatened to last forever but I retired them around 60+K because wet and and snow traction had fallen off so much.

Needing/wanting Winter tires before that is another matter. You live in Rochester NY... If I had to commute, I'd get Winter tires for snow time versus running a Grand Touring All Season.

Well for the most part I'd agree with you about the snow tires but, we have some of the best snow removal in the country in this part of Western NY State(along the Great Lakes)...And we need it!

For example, my daughter(traveling journalist) living in Central PA, she uses General AltiMax Arctic's on her car for the winters as their snow removal "in her area" is mediocre on it's best day! They'd rather shut down schools before the Hiwy Dept sends out the trucks.

I just replaced the aftermarket MXV4's size 205/60/16 on the Accord @ 77k. They had 4/32 remaining but were cracking. Ran them all year round here in Boston and never had an issue with snow, including this past Winter, but always drove prudently when the roads were compromised.

The General RT43's which replace them seem to balance ride comfort and handling quite nicely, with perhaps a hint more road noise than the MXV4's. They are noticeably softer than the Michelin's, which may owe to their single ply sidewall, even at 35psi and 33psi, front rear repectively, which is 2-3psi higher than manufacturer spec. They seem to be an excellent value but the jury is still out on treadlife and snow traction.
