Michelin Harmony review

I notice the noise because my Honda has less sound insulation than most cars. The CT Tourings would be perfect for the Camry. I'm running them now and noticed my mpg were up from the Destinys. I also ran the Primacys and found them to be more quiet than the Destinys, but less comfortable on rough streets. I may go back to the regular CTs next time,as they are completely silent and ride more comfortably than any of the above tires.

FZ1, Thanks for the info on the CTT; I really value your opinion. If Discount tire sold the CTT in the required size, there would be no decision. The only thing that has me considering another set of Primacys is the retailer. So far as my wife is concerend, provided they're not flat or square, she is quite satisfied with anything. The tire choice is strictly for when I drive her car.

Thank you. I'm not selling anything, and am just relating my personal experiences. Luv DT as they allowed me to return tires with no problem. Good luck with whatever tire you purchase.

As I said, I really appreciate and value your opinion. I may ask the manager of my DT store about the CTT. Based upon everything I've read, it's a really good tire at a variable reasonable price. I'd like to go with a V rated tire as that's what came on her car. However, the Primacy Vs are $170+ per and come with a 60K warranty compared to the 70K on the CTT. I use mileage warranties as an indicator of what to expect since I pull tires long before 2/32.

No question that's true---but, it still doesn't make the tire a good tire for my application. That was the purpose of the post. I will take advantage of the warranty, but I would prefer the tire last longer. It always costs more over time to get new tires under warranty than to have them last the miles they 'advertise'. I just don't think the Destiny is that good of a tire, certainly not worthy of the Michelin reputation. I had some Michelin LTX on my Yukon that wore like iron and GM light trucks are notoriously hard on tires.

Right. It does cost $60 to have the new tires mounted but they gave me an additional $25 credit and the $60 promotion. For the small additional cost,I prefer to have a fresh set of tires every 5 years. But that's just me.

As someone who has owned multiple sets of Destinys, I'd have to disagree that it's not worthy of the Michelin reputation. You have to remember that it's a T rated tire and handles as such. I've had them go 65K and still have 5/32 left so they would have gone 80K easy. The real benefit of a tire like the Destiny is that they come round and with proper care, stay round. I'm not trying to flame you, I just believe that the tire should be evaluated relative to the intended application and particularly relative to price. You can get a set of Destinys in a variety of sizes for under $400. There aren't many tires at that price point that can deliver the combination of mileage, decent ride, and also to stay round and true through their entire life. At that price point, there are going to be some negatives. Dt's internal ratings of the Destiny are quite high; same thing for Tire Rack ratings of the sister tire, Harmony. Generally, the people who are buying these tires are getting exactly what they wanted.

I had a set of Harmony's on a Ford Freestar and I thought they were great tires. When my Sienna needs tires, they will most likely be replaced with Harmony's.

I put them on my '97 CRV, probably the best passenger car tire I ever owned, required little weight to balance, wore very even, impressive right to the 80k when I replaced them with Honda 'take offs' that included rims. The Harmony's sat in my basement for three years mounted on the OE alloys, just sold them the other day, still had a couple 32" left.

From what I've read, and from looking at specs and tire plants where they are made for the same size across all 4, I highly suspect with 99% certainty that other than minor cosmetic differences in the tread and on the sidewalls, these 4 tires are otherwise identical:

- Michelin Harmony
- Michelin Destiny
- Michelin X Radial DT (from Costco and Sams Club)
- Michelin Weatherwise II (formerly Agility, from Sears)

They are. They're all made from the same basic carcass. I talked to a Michelin rep once who said that the tread compound is the same among the four flavors. The only difference is in the tread design (which isn't all that dramatic) and in the name itself.
