Mercon-V Choices local

Hi,
What's the better choice for MERCON-V from these few I can find locally?
CASTROL MERCON-V
VALVOLINE (multi-rated)
AAMCO Mercon-V (Exxon-Mobil mfg)
Auto Zone Mercon-V (house brand)
PENNZOIL MERCON-V (if I can find it)
MOTOCRAFT MERCON-V

Mobil 1 ATF is not really OK,or is it?

Should I go with the cheaper one regardless?

red line one can find it at your racing shops..... my vic requires merc V i use redline's atf d4 which merc V

Redline D4 ATF is not MerconV: "Synthetic D4 ATF is suitable for use where Dexron III, Dexron II, or Mercon fluids are recommended."

Ron, I am in the same boat. You must shop at the same store i do. All the same choices. I have no Idea if any is better than the next. I'm thinking the durablend would prob be my choice. I'm not a penziol guy and I wouldn't buy the coastal. Mabey castrol, valvoline or motorcraft?

I'm curious to hear someone with more knowledge chime in on this.

I do.

My Crown Vic, T-bird, and E-250 all use it.

4R70W, AOD, and 4R70W respectively.

I use Pennzoil Mercon-V which is scarce now, but my other choice would be Quaker State 4x4 synthetic blend which is Merc, MercV, and Dex III compat.

There are no synthetic ATFs that are Mercon-V compatible other than Amsoil's so-called universal ATF.

Well,I got a reply from Pennzoil today regarding where to find MERCON-V.They gave a number in the next county. What about the new CASTROL MERCON-V,which is on the shelf locally?I like to read that MERCON-V name ONLY on the container.The cross-bred stuff may be just as good,but...any imput, I'm ready to buy and live with it.Good Luck!

Well my search finished at Pep-Boys, and they had PENNZOIL MERCON-V at under $3/qt. As I plan to change it in 30K with Purolator filter,that should do it.One less fluid to be concerned about is nice. Now, what oil for 6k this summer? Cheap'n Best ofcourse!

Got the wrong Filter at PEP-BOYS! For a Purolator kit(don't need the pan gasket)is part #P1232
NOT P1217! The guys at Allomatic gave me the correct # and a warning regarding the P1217,which comes without a Pick-up tube on the bottom.Confirmed the match and all's well.
Oh, I managed to lower the pan on the bolts, and using s drill-pump sucked out all but a quart no mess.

I learned my lesson. Don't let the Pep Boys counter people look up parts for you without looking at the screen yourself. They gave me the wrong Purolator air filter.

I found the # on the net and double checked with the Boys pc.They insist it's correct/////RIGHT!?It did cost $2 more for the lil pick-up tube, but i'm glad to pay it.
