I just bought a used 96 Lumina and the paint is very good. I have a tube of Mequiar's scratch stuff and is this for the whole car or only for small sections? I normally would just get a Turtle wax white light rubbing compound. (Not the abrasive one!) Is that Mequiar's tube just another kind of rubbing compound? Will apply Kit wax or Zymoll after the Turtle or Meguiars. It is gonna look great as it already does after 12 years!

Yes you can use it on the whole car. It's good for light scratches and swirl marks. FWIW, the Meguiar's Gold Class is a very good wax and it lasts a long time.

you can use for the whole car.

I bought the 3M rubbing compound and used it today on some spots and it worked great at getting the scratches out.

If you already have the megs Scratch X I would use that.

Im eagerly waiting for xmas when I will get my PC 7424 and get busy doing some serious detailing

Both of the Turtle Wax polishes are brutal. Scratch-X is not far behind. I sometimes use cleaner wax with water and buff it or a product like Meg's Fine Cut or the lighter Paint Cleaner. Depends on the paint and the working temps.

Actually you'll get better results with Meguire's heavy duty car cleaner in the maroon bottle. It chemically cleans along with mild abrasives that break down smooth. I no longer use Meguire's products since finding Griot's garage about 8 years ago - but I have to admit the meguire's HD car cleaner is very good.

Well, I used Turtle Wax POLISH not the rubbing compound. It is that white stuff. You are correct, the rubbing compound stuff is very abrasive. I then used a bottle of KIT wax I had. Then, I re-waxed the roof and the hood with some Zymoll. The car looks great.

I have found that just about any wax product is better than none EXCEPT for those color match products where you try to match your car color.

Actually, one of the best I ever used was RAIN DANCE which is hard to find these days. Really shined and beaded well. Another good one that a guy bought at a car show was called Perma-seal which, like Zymoll, went on real easy.

I did use the Meguiar's I mentioned above and it came off easier than that the Turtle stuff but the result was the same.

I wish I was so confident that I would receive the things on my Christmas wish list!

i know i am getting that from santy claus, cause I was talking about it one day and she said "if you want something for xmas open your mouth!"

So i did...

I have been very impressed with the Meguiars products. This was done with their plastic polish and Mag/aluminum polish on a 48 year old dash cluster. "New" knobs are only 47 years old.
